The Scariest Thing In Political Tech

AI has unleashed a wave of technology change that has transformed the advocacy landscape. So in honor of Halloween, today we cover the scariest change of all—the pace of change—how AI unleashed it—and how to turn that pace to your advantage.

The Creature AI Created

It's the ultimate Frankenstein story: software developers created AI. And it turns out that the easiest thing for AI to replace—is the software developers themselves.

But in this version of the story, there's a twist. Some of the creators survive—and they become more powerful than ever. Those survivors now use AI to radically increase the speed and quality of their work. The result? Software that previously updated quarterly, now regularly updates daily or even multiple times per day.

Here's a real-world example from our own experience in just the last week. A client suggested a new feature for our AI-Iâ„¢, Advanced Influencer Intelligence platform. Our call ended with the client at 2:00. By the close of business that day, we had built, tested, and deployed the feature. This would have been unthinkable even 18 months ago.

There are countless ways that software developers now use AI to speed and improve their work, but here's a simple way to think of it: Imagine AI as a super-intelligent assistant watching the coders work, catching errors before they cause problems, writing entire chunks of code while the developer types a few words, and instantly understanding what needs to be fixed when something breaks.

For the survivors who have tamed the creature, that creature became the most powerful tool in the lab.

What It Means For You

Put simply, AI means a dizzying pace of change that requires you to keep up. A common saying in the AI age is "don't put all of your eggs in one basket." This is sound advice. Betting on any one technology or one vendor means betting on who will win and lose during this breakneck pace of change. No one can predict that outcome. So the best advice is: ask questions, explore new products, and spread out your eggs.

AI, at its core, means change. The only real question—is whether you're changing with it or getting left behind.

Two Ways To Operationalize This Email

🎃 Answer this question honestly: When was the last time you tried a new technology in your campaigns?

🎃 Establish a quarterly tech review process. Create a standing agenda item where your team specifically discusses: What new tools have emerged? What are competitors using? Where are our current vendors falling behind?
